Humboldt/Del Norte/Trinity celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting
To celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting and the vibrant Girl Scout program on the North Coast, local troops from Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte will be gathering at Redwood Acres on March 17th for a Wonderful Hundred event. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activity booths, historic displays, talent show, food sales, sing-alongs, Girls Go Tech area, and much more await Girl Scouts, their families, and the greater community.
The Talent Show and Trashion Show and their exhibits are open to Girl Scouts of all ages. If your troop plans to participate in these fun opportunities, see the participation paperwork below. A Girl Scout store and cookie booth will be open at the event and a special event patch will be available for sale.
Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to dust off their tutus, tune up their instruments, or warm up their voices for any act under TWO minutes. To participate please complete a participation form and permission slip.
We will also welcome non-performing talent such as photography, quilting, scrapbooks, stamp art, crafts, sewing, handmade jewelry, decorated cakes, flower arrangements, fine arts (drawings and paintings), ceramics etc. which will be displayed at the event also.
Trashion Show & Exhibit
The 100th aniversary theme is "Forever Green". In keeping with the theme Girl Scouts are challenged to reuse, recycle and upcycle for FABULOUS Trashion! and participate in a first ever Girl Scout Humboldt Trashion Show.
You will create fabulous Trashion using recycled items in the effort to promote the REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE motto. It is the goal of this Trashion Show to upcycle/recycle for the purpose of creating useable trashion (see definitions below). Submit entries as a troop and/or as an individual There is no limit on the number of entries per troop or individual, but a proposal must be submitted for each entry.

The Forever Green Tree of Service
To celebrate the Girl Scout tradition of service plans are afoot to create a Forever Green Tree of Service. Each area troop is invited to created a bough on the tree. Instructions for creating your bough will be discussed at your next service unit meeting anc can be downloaded here.
Troops are invited to set up their own booths to celebrate all aspects of Girl Scouting including looking back at the rich heritage and traditions of the organization as well as highlighting current activities. Details on how your troop can participate will be available soon.
